The Word of God

These passages focus on God's Word and the benefits of memorizing and meditating on it. When Jesus used the phrase "the Law and the Prophets" He was referring to the entire Old Testament. (See John 10:34 where He includes Psalms.) Now, in Christ, we follow the Royal Law of Love, James 2:8. All Scripture is profitable as 2 Timothy 3:16 says. May you be blessed as you abide in His Word!

[All Scripture is NKJV unless otherwise noted, and the songs are presented in the order of the Bible.]

[Job 23:12b]

I have not departed from the commandment of His lips;

I have treasured the words of His mouth

More than my necessary food.

Ps1.1-3NKJV.mp3

Psalm 1:1-3

"Blessed is the man

Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,

Nor stands in the path of sinners,

Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

But his delight is in the law of the Lord,

And in His law he meditates day and night.

He shall be like a tree

Planted by the rivers of water,

That brings forth its fruit in its season,

Whose leaf also shall not wither;

And whatever he does shall prosper."

John8.31,32,36.mp3

[John 8:31,32 and 36]

31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

33 They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?”

34 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. 35 And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

John chapter 8:31, 32, 36

[You can substitute "set" instead of "make (you free)," as the NIV does.]

Heb4.12Simpler.mp3

[Hebrews 4:12 NKJV - This is a simplified version. For my original version, please Contact Jenny.

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. [You may want to substitute the NIV "intentions" for "intents."]
